What is an Au Pair?

The definition of an Au Pair is ‘on par’ or an ‘equal’ meaning you will will be treated as part of the family, with your main responsibility to help to care for the children of your host family.

The main aim of the programme is to give you the chance to experience the American culture whilst becoming a part of a new family and making new friends along the way. You are not expected to provide full time childcare, be treated as a nanny or a babysitter.

Travel-As an Au Pair you will be classed as an exchange visitor on a J1 international visa, this allows you to work upto 12 months with the opportunity to extend at the end of your programme and 30 days at the end of your visa to travel the United States.
